AMHERST:
• Free Breakfast: Starting January 6, 2026, all K-12 Amherst students will be eligible for a free breakfast. Each meal includes the main entrée of the day, 2 frit choices, and milk. Please remind your students to know their 6-digit student number to receive breakfast.
AVON:
• 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
• Model UN Conference: The Model United Nations conference is coming up. There will be plenty of food and fun. If you are already a member of Model UN sign up in google classroom. If not, don’t hesitate to join the Google Classroom site and register. There are plenty of upperclassmen with lots of experience who can help with the conference preparation process, and the conferences are always a lot of fun.
• Attention Juniors: Juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to join the counselors in the AHS Performing Arts Center for a presentation reviewing the college application process and preparing for senior year. The presentation will take place on Thursday, January 8th at 6pm in the Performing Arts Center.
• CCP Information Night: Join representatives from LCCC and Tri-C to learn about College Credit Plus (CCP) on Tuesday, January 13th at 6pm in the AHS Performing Arts Center. You will learn the following information: Who is eligible, what are the mandatory CCP procedures, who do you contact for help, and what resources are available. We hope to see you there.
• Class of 2026 Stay Connected: Order your purple cap & gown now! You can find the link on our website. Graduation is NOW Tuesday, May 26th at 7pm. Mark your calendars for the following dates: Senior DC Trip is March 18th-21st, Prom is Saturday, May 9th, Senior awards are May 18th, Senior Exams are May 18th-20th, Graduation Practice is May 22nd and Graduation is May 26th.
• Boys Tennis Team: Any boys interested in joining the tennis team should attend a brief meeting on January 15th at 3pm in room 226.
AVON LAKE
• Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our productions extra special! For this fundraiser, the students are seeking people to “sponsor.
CLEARVIEW:
• State Testing: State Testing will start Thursday, January 8th in the media center for students who are retaking a test or who missed a test last spring. There will be a morning session of testing and an afternoon session. If you are scheduled for the test, you receive an email, so be sure to check. Please contact your school counselor if you want to double check or if you have any questions.
• Senior Class Shirt: Attention Seniors! Please choose one of the T-shirt designs for your Senior Class T-shirt that Mrs. Karr sent to your email via Google Forms. The t-shirt receiving the most votes will be made and can be purchased. Voting will end next Wednesday, January 14th. Please vote!
COLUMBIA:
• Winter Cabaret: Enjoy a musical experience at the Winter Cabaret, Villainous, this Saturday January 10th. Shows will be at 3pm and 7pm. General admission is $11 and Student and Staff tickets are $6
• Student Council Malley Chocolate Bars: Malley’s Chocolate Bars are for sale in main office for $2.00
• Scholarship Information: Community Foundation of Lorain County Scholarship Portal opened Friday, January 1st.
• Seniors: Schedule an appointment to meet with Miss Neff/Ms. MacDonald. Transcripts are sent through Schoolinks. Log in through Clever. The FAFSA is now open. Need help? See Miss Neff or Ms. Vega Hamilton.
• Juniors: PSAT results are in. If you didn’t receive a link from College Board, please see Miss Neff. The ST is Thursday, March 5th at CHS.
• Sophmores: LCJVS Career Days Field Trip will be January 29th; permissions are due NOW to guidance
• Freshman: All freshmen participated in the Graduation Seals they would like to earn as their graduation requirement. Please complete the Google form sent by Miss Neff ASAP!
ELYRIA
• Career Exploration Program ASVAB Assessment: The ASVAB – Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Career Exploration Program Assessment will be held on January 14, 2026 in room 101W from 8-11am. Please see Sergeant Majoy Lococo in room 102W to sign -up and receive a booklet.
• Seniors: Please see Class of 2026 Google Classroom for posted information about Senior pictures, Senior quotes and Baby/Little Kid pictures. Senior Picture Day is NEXT Thursday 1/15/26. You must sign up for an appointment time in Google Classroom. Any questions, please see Mrs. Hammond.
• Field Trip: There will be a field trip to RGI Creative, a company that creates exhibits you see at museums. 10th-12th grade students interested in the arts, trades, computer science, and engineering are eligible to attend. See Mrs. Anderle in the Team 2/4 office for a permission slip.
• Field Trip for Seniors: There will be a field trip to LCCC for seniors that plan to attend LCCC after high school. Seniors will complete the orientation and enrollment process including scheduling for classes and receiving student IDs. See Mrs. Anderle for a permission slip. Space is limited.
• Flag Football Open Gym: If you are interested in playing Girls Flag Football in the spring. Please scan the QR code on the flier or see Coach Wilson in Room 208 W. All players MUST have passed 5 classes in quarter 2 with a 2.0 GPA, have a physical on file and be signed up in Final Forms. Open Gyms start Monday, January 12th at 5:15 in Auxiliary Gym. These will last 1 hour. You must have a physical on file to attend open gym.
• Last Chance for JVS field trip: If you are interested in attending the field trip to the JVS on Wednesday, Jan. 28th, the final day permission slips will be accepted is Tuesday, January 13th. Permission slips can be found in the team 1/3 office or with Mr. Belizaire in room 309W. We are only taking 2 buses based on the number of people signed up. If enough people turn in forms by the 13th, we can take 3 buses, but Tuesday, January 13th is the deadline. Question, please see Belizaire in 309W.
• Science Club: Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 14th after school in room 237. Please see Mrs. Bechtel in room 237 with any questions.
• Creative Writing Club: Hey Writers! Club will meet every Tuesday we have school. Bring your imagination and we’ll see you in room 101 from 3-4 PM!
• French Club New Year’s Event: Friday, January 16th in room 209 there will be the first Frech Club meeting of the new year until 3:30. We will be celebrating the French holiday “Ephiphany” with food and fun. Are you cut out to be royalty? Come and find out!
FIRELANDS:
• Falcon Pride Raffle: This week’s PRIDE raffle will be announced on Monday, January 12th. You will still have until 12:30 this Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Taylor!
• Dodgeball: On February 6th we will have our annual Donate to Dodge Dodgeball Tournament. Each grade will get 4 teams of 6 members. To play in the Tournament each team must donate 10 items to Genesis House. The list of needed items can be found on Google Classroom. Please keep in mind that each team must include two female students and your team is not officially registered until you bring in your donation items to Mr. Hartsel. Sign-ups can be found on Google Classroom registration closes on January 16th.
• Friendly Reminders: For the safety of everyone, students are not permitted to wear hats, hoods, or carry blankets around with them during the school day. Additionally, following state law, all cell phones are to be kept in lockers during the instructional day, this includes class time, transitions, privilege and lunch.
KEYSTONE
• College Credit Plus: Interested in taking College courses next year? All students interested in applying for the College Credit Plus Program (CCP) MUST attend the annual CCP Information Night on Thursday, January 29th with a parent or guardian. All CCP students MUST read the email as Mr. Gallion has sent out the annual steps all CCP Students must complete by their deadlines to participate in CCP next year. This does include current CCP Students
• Attention ALL Students: ALL Students will be required to attend Connections 3 days in January: January 22nd, Friday, January 23rd, and Monday, January 26th. You will report to your Mentorship Classroom for these three days.
• Seniors: As we approach the end of the first semester, it is time to submit your senior survey. This survey includes your senior quote along with the information that is published next to your portrait in the 2026 yearbook. Check your email or scan the QR codes on the posters around the building to submit your survey today.
• Book Club: A reminder that our next meeting will be held after school TODAY in room 106. See you there!
